“We need a place to worship where we don’t feel judged.”
In the early 1990’s, Tim Pinson Sr. took a youth group to Waco, Texas and had them do a poverty simulation. While on the streets they asked people what their greatest need was. The overwhelming response was, “We need a place to worship where we don’t feel judged.” Church Under the Bridge( CUB) was then formed in Austin.
Church Under the Bridge (CUB) is a combined effort of the body of Christ throughout the Austin area. At CUB, those who attend will have the opportunity to be a part of worship, which includes live music, prayer, fellowship and a down-to-earth Gospel message. Partnering churches have the opportunity to lead worship, serve meals and beverages, and share the message.
While many of those who attend are homeless, Church Under the Bridge is a place for all to come and worship God. Since 1993, CUB has existed to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and to connect various individuals from the body of Christ with one another. It is through the Gospel, and through these connections, that we desire to see Christ-like transformation take place in the lives of all that attend.
Church Under the Bridge meets Sunday’s 10 am-12 pm under I-35 bridge between 7th & 8th Street.
- Volunteers: Volunteers needed to set up & tear down equipment at Church Under the Bridge (CUB), build relationships with those we serve, and to serve meals and beverages.
- Financial Support: CUB carries some regular costs to maintain vehicles, sound equipment, coffee supplies, and cleaning supplies. We want to be good stewards of God’s resources, and your partnership through giving allows us to serve people under the bridge well.
- Prayer: We do share the gospel and face spiritual warfare on a regular basis. Pray for all of the above needs, and pray for lives to be changed with the hope of Christ.
