Camp Nikos 2018 “Facing Giants”

The Nikos Camping Ministry exists to connect the church with at-risk youth for Christ-centered transformation. Our vision is to provide a Christ-centered experience through camp to at-risk youth. Mission: Possible! Austin runs 5 camps and retreats a year for at-risk children 6-18 years old. We believe there is something special about retreating from our daily lives and routines to connect with God. Ephesians 6:11-12 says, “Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.”

Everyday we wrestle against the schemes of the devil. The world challenges us with anger, depression, anxiety, fear, etc. It is easy to let these “giants” rule our lives if we let them. God has given us the tools to combat the evil one with His word. This summer we will be learning how to face these giants by focusing on the Armor of God.  Many of our kids are faced with a history of fatherlessness, abuse, neglect, and lack of resources to succeed. The Bible has a overwhelming amount of Scriptures calling the body of Christ to serve the poor because of God’s mercy on us. 2 Corinthians 8:9 says, “For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you by his poverty might become rich.”

Camp Nikos is a unique camp that helps meet these needs. Kids are paired one-on-one with their own camp counselor. This increases the chance for Christ-centered relationships to form! The kids are all placed in a cabin group and go through camp building team skills. Each camp has a theme, and throughout the day they learn more from God’s Word. Camp also exposes them to worship, Scripture memory verses, and provides healthy meals. We aim to serve the whole person (mind, body, and soul) at Camp Nikos. We rely 100% on financial gifts to send a kid to camp! Camp Nikos costs $375 to send a kid to camp. To send a kid to camp give here: https://www.mpaustin.org/give/
