Bringing Hope & Fighting for Life

“…the best thing Lifeline has given us is the security in knowing we can be good parents and everything is going to be okay.”

-Sierra, Mom at Lifeline Pregnancy Resource Center

As we enter the holiday season, Mission: Possible! Austin has so much to be grateful for: the opportunity to glorify God through the work we do, the resilience of the people we serve, the inspiring and tireless efforts of our staff and volunteers. And we’re especially grateful for people like you! Thanks to people like you, Mission: Possible! Austin is able to lift up and support children, adolescents, adults, and seniors. This year, by the grace of God, we launched a new program in our Family of Ministries for pregnant women and their unborn children: Lifeline Pregnancy Resource Center (Lifeline PRC).

Lifeline PRC opened its doors in June 2018 to offer free medical and counseling services along with parenting and life skills classes to pregnant women in East Austin. Women like Sierra. Sierra and her fiancé, Steven (both pictured above), were planning their wedding when they discovered they were pregnant with their second child. After having lived on the streets for two years, finding a steady job for Steven, and finally getting into their first apartment, the last thing they expected was to be expecting again.

“We have a one-year-old son and we had just gotten off the streets,” Sierra recalls. “We were excited for our growing family, but worried about how we were going to be able to take care of two babies.”

Sierra learned about Lifeline PRC and came in for a free pregnancy test, counseling, and eventually a free ultrasound. “When I first saw my baby on the sonogram, it was very exciting and helped me believe I was actually pregnant again,” Sierra said. Through our point-based system, Sierra and Steven attended enough prenatal counseling and parenting classes to earn credit for supplies like diapers, formula, baby clothes and more.

We saved enough points to buy a pack-n-play for our one-year-old and a diaper changing table,” Sierra said. “But the best thing Lifeline has given us is the security in knowing we can be good parents and everything is going to be okay.”

Lifeline PRC serves on average 5-7 clients a day, and Sierra is just one women served since opening its doors less than 6 months ago. In order to walk more women like Sierra through their pregnancies, Mission: Possible! Austin is launching its #Give2Live campaign. Our goal is to raise $55,000 for Lifeline PRC by Dec. 31, 2018, so we can begin the first quarter of 2019 fully funded! Mission: Possible! Austin is still needing $125,000 to make year end budget by 2018 for all of our programs.

No matter what age or stage of life you’re in Mission: Possible! Austin has a program to meet the need, and build Christ-centered relationships. Lifeline PRC is one of our programs that enables us to reach children before they’re even born while serving their siblings and parents with programs designed to equip them to become responsible, self-reliant members of their families and communities. We recently saw our “Family of Ministries” come full circle when we learned Sierra and her fiancé first discovered Mission: Possible! Austin two years ago when they started attending Church Under the Bridge.
