Urban Submersion Weekends allow individuals in the Body of Christ from the Austin area and beyond to offer hope, compassion and the love of Christ to residents of Urban Austin. Throughout the weekend, participants serve alongside the Mission: Possible! staff and other volunteers ministering to those in need. The weekend allows all participants to see the various ministries of the organization as they serve in community outreach, programs for at-risk children in the area and Church Under the Bridge.
Participants stay at the MP Community Center in East Austin for the weekend forgoing many of the comforts of home. Part of the experience is about getting out of one’s comfort zone in order to lean on God in new ways. This often leads to an increase in faith, a new sense of purpose and direction and a willingness to become the hands a feet of Christ whenever and wherever He leads.
Lasting friendships are often formed, both between the participants involved in the weekend as well as with those they serve throughout the weekend. One weekend serving can open your eyes to the needs around you and open your heart to others you may not have met otherwise.
