Frequently Asked Questions

Do feel that you enable Austin’s homeless to stay as they are?

This question seems to be a hot topic for our city. Many see what services are being offered to the street population in our city and feel as though they are actually encouraging (even enabling) those who live on the street to continue to do so. There is some truth to this concern, as it has to do with what our city offers to the people. Mission: Possible! Austin, however, does not believe that its ministry to the homeless is one that enables. Rather, it is one that empowers. Church Under the Bridge, for instance, has been organized in such a way that it allows people who really want to make a change in their lives to have a venue to come to us and express that desire. We then will take those individuals and disciple them and, if need be, give them job training so they can breakout of the cycle of hopelessness that they were caught in. This is the "empowering" portion of our mission statement.

Are you partnering with any other entities to change East Austin?

As our Mission statement reads Connecting, Serving and Empowering. We are a connecting organization. We strive to partner with and will always look for new partnerships in the community. We have a staff member who is on many community steering committees and boards. In addition, he attends neighborhood association meetings for the purpose of strategic partnerships. Currently we work close with many churches in the Austin area, the Austin Police Department, Austin Weed and Seed, Keeling Jr. high school, the Austin Housing Authority, City of Austin, East Austin Real Life Center, Austin Revitalization Authority and others involved in the Central East Austin Area.

How could my church or business get involved?

We are a volunteer based organization. Our mission would be impossible without volunteers. Churches and business play a major role in our volunteer base because they have the manpower and financial resources to get a lot done. We are always amazed at how much can be accomplished through the work of many hands. If you would like for your church, business, or organization to get involved with what Mission: Possible! Austin is doing in the inner-city, contact us to set up a time to meet with you so we can discuss specific opportunities that we have.

How can my business or I give financially to Mission: Possible! Austin?

All financial gifts can be designated to a specific program of the ministry and are tax deductible. Corporate sponsoring is also a great way for your business or organization to get involved.
